Our first NOPI Drift event of the 2008 season came on April 19/20, 2008 and was an exciting one. Driver Will Parsons and the NST crew arrived in St. Louis Friday morning and spent the weekend battling it out against some of the best drivers in the region.
Overall the weekend was a challenging one, to say the least. A bad injector was the cause of missfire early and required a replacement the night before the 13 hour road trip. The car ran well during practice sessions on Friday, but again started missfiring, and hard rain all afternoon made the diagnostics process that much more difficult. The fuel pump was eventually diagnosed as the culprit and a replacement was installed Saturday afternoon. The car was up and running again, and ran well for the rest of the day.
Having missed most of the practice session on Saturday, Will Parsons would have few runs under his belt before qualifying was to occur. The NST AE86 failed to make the field of top16 Sunday, but was a definite crowd pleaser and one of most popular fan favorites, as it was the only AE86 in a field of high horsepower SR, RB, and LS1 powered cars.
"We had a lot of fun this weekend, we met some new people in the NOPI series and organization, and I am very proud of all the hard work by our entire crew." said Mike Rahimi, team manager. "From the driver, to the pit crew, to our photographer, we all worked very hard and made it happen!"
